The world's largest and fully automatic Medical Waste Sterilization Plant was established by ERA Environment in İstanbul. The plant was completed in March 2013 and operated for 8 months by ERA.  8000 tons of medical waste was sterilized during this period and the test phase was completed succesfully.

The plant which has a closed area of 3000 m² is the most modern medical waste sterilization plant in the world with its fully automatic conveyor and remote monitoring/intervention systems.
